Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These terms govern your use of Wave Log (“the Service”) and set out the rights and obligations of users and the operator.

2. Definitions

• “User”: any member or guest using the Service under these terms
• “Check-in”: a feature for recording and sharing a short video and activity details captured at a beach
• “Content”: any videos, photos, text, or other material posted by users

3. Accounts

• Sign-up uses email verification. Users under 14 may not register.
• You may delete your account at any time via Settings > Delete account. Your account data and content are deleted upon withdrawal.

4. The Service

• The Service provides beach information, tide information, activity suitability, and community features (check-ins, comments, etc.).
• Tide, suitability, and other information provided by the Service is for reference only. Actual sea conditions may differ from predictions. Always check local guidance and weather information before swimming, surfing, or other activities. The operator is not liable for accidents arising from reliance on the Service’s information.

5. Location-Based Services

• The Service uses your device location to find nearby beaches and confirm visits when checking in.
• The handling of location data is described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Content and Rights

• You retain copyright in your content.
• You grant the Service a non-exclusive license to use your content for operating, displaying, and promoting the Service (display, thumbnails, share cards, etc.). This license ends when the content is deleted or the account is withdrawn.
• The Service may display advertising within the Service, marked as “Sponsored.” Advertising is content provided by advertisers; the Service does not use your posts as advertising.
• Check-in videos are recorded in public places. You should take care not to capture identifiable images of other people, and you are responsible for any video you post in which others appear.

7. Prohibited Conduct

The following are prohibited and may result in content removal or account restrictions:

• Infringing others’ rights, defamation, hate speech
• Posting obscene or otherwise inappropriate content
• Spreading false information, spamming, advertising
• Interfering with the normal operation of the Service

8. Reports and Moderation

• Users can report inappropriate content or users. Report reasons include rights violations such as the right to one’s own image.
• You do not need an account to request removal. If you appear in a post, contact [email protected] and we will review and remove it.
• The operator reviews reports within 24 hours of receipt and takes necessary action.
• If you disagree with an action, contact [email protected]. Users whose content was removed or whose access was restricted may ask for the reason and request a re-review.

9. Disclaimer

• The operator is not liable for service interruptions caused by force majeure such as natural disasters or network failures.
• The operator has no obligation to intervene in disputes between users or between users and third parties.

10. Changes and Governing Law

• Changes to these terms will be announced in the app; continued use constitutes acceptance.
• These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
