Hatenohama

Hatenohama

はての浜 · Okinawa, Japan

The collective name for the three sandbars—Maefunohama, Nakanohama, and Hatenohama—floating about 5 km off the east coast of Kumejima. Accessible only by boat tour, it is more of a sandy island than a beach, with almost no shade or permanent facilities. A wetsuit is essential during box jellyfish season.
